Lost
The other night I was working on a new idea for a children’s
book that had been rattling around in my head for the last week or so. If anyone reading this loves writing, then you
understand when an idea for a story comes to mind it will periodically invade
your thoughts, until you write it down.
A night soon came
when I had finally had a moment to sit down and type up the story. I liked it a lot as I read it back to myself, accept a
few places that needed tweeking.
Suddenly a warning popped up on my screen that read, “Computer will
restart and update in fourteen minutes.”
I clicked the close button, and thought to myself, “I have fourteen
minutes, I’ve got plenty of time.”
I then began going over the story correcting this and fixing
that when in a few minutes - not sure how long because I really wasn’t paying
close attention; I was sure I had the
time I needed and so I wasn’t concerned -
it popped up again, “Computer will restart and update in so many
minutes.” “I’m almost done, I will save
my work in time, I’m sure of it.” I
thought and a few minutes later my screen went black.
Well needless-to-say the only words out of my mouth were,
“No way, I was almost finished!” I had
ignored the warnings and thought I had plenty of time.
I proceeded to search my computer for lost files and a
way to retrieve my lost work. “I didn’t
save it, why didn’t I save it?!” I
thought. I’m sure, as many of you know,
and as I found out that if you don’t save your work then it’s just gone.
Ever since that night another thought has been rattling
around in my head. Through our lives we
learn about Jesus and His wonderful sacrifice on the cross. How He died for our sins and that through His
shed blood on the cross we can be saved and live eternally in Heaven with Him.
John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life."
Isaiah 55:3 says: "Incline your ear, and come unto me:
hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with
you, even the sure mercies of David."
V 6 of that same chapter says: "Seek ye the Lord while he may
be found, call ye upon him while he is near."
Will we ignore the warning messages we read in the Bible, or
the preaching we hear in the Church house?
Will we keep thinking that we have plenty of time, that we just need to
do a few more things and then we will consider salvation?
Are we not paying attention, thinking we have
plenty of time?
I hope whoever is reading this will consider that none of us
have any idea how much time we truly have.
Job 16:22 says: "When a few years are come, I shall go the way
whence I shall not return."
Psalms 49:15: But God will redeem my soul from the power of
the grave: for He shall receive me. Selah.
What a wonderful thing to know that when we are saved we are
Gods. We are not lost forever but we
will be in Heaven with our Lord.
